About me
Dr. Rachel Nurse-Baker, a Y2+ Co-Coordinator for the Patricia A. Tietjen, MD Teaching Academy. Dr. Nurse-Baker is a mother of three, an Army Officer, community advocate and a dedicated nursing leader in the field of public health. Dr. Nurse-Baker is a nephrology med-surg nurse at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, where she brings both clinical expertise and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
With over a decade of experience as a registered nurse and a doctorate in Public Health Education, Dr. Nurse-Baker is passionate about mentoring future health professionals and advancing equitable health outcomes. Her dedication extends into her role as the co-founder of Power in Wellness Health Consultants, a public health consulting firm focused on building healthier communities through partnership and education.
Her commitment to advancing nursing education is reflected in her PATMDTA scholarly research project, “A Quantitative Study on the Effect of Incorporating Simulation Lab during the New Nurse Orientation.” In her luncheon PATMDTATalk, Rachel discusses how research is more than just collecting data, but it is a catalyst for building connections and inspiring change in practice.
