Lisa Marie Dugan, BSN, RN, is the Maternal Child Manager at Nuvance Health’s Western Connecticut Home Care (WCHC). With over 26 years of nursing experience, she brings a deep commitment to compassionate, culturally sensitive care across hospital, birthing center, and home care settings. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pace University and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society.
She began her career as a surgical and ortho/neuro nurse at Northern Westchester Hospital, later working in Neuroscience at Yale New Haven Hospital. Drawn to home care, Lisa served as a case manager at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut and then joined New Milford Visiting Nurse Association, where she provided both med/surg and hospice care. She also worked as a midwife assistant at Connecticut Childbirth and Women’s Center, supporting births in a home-like setting and conducting postpartum visits. At Danbury Hospital, she taught Baby Care Basics, which led to her ongoing career with Danbury Visiting Nurse Association, now Western Connecticut Home Care.
At WCHC, Lisa has been a leader in maternal-child health education, teaching the Sweet Delivery Gestational Diabetic Program in English and Spanish and mentoring new staff. In 2017, she launched a Graduate Nurse program focused on orienting nurses to both clinical care and the unique aspects of home health. A trusted “super user” during electronic medical record transitions, she also helped develop pediatric assessment tools to support quality care.
Lisa has twice received the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing, in recognition of her excellence and advocacy. Her experiences as a nurse and mother have made her a vocal supporter of maternal mental health. She works to break stigma by fostering open, honest conversations with families, especially those underserved or underrepresented, aiming to improve care and accessibility.
Lisa raised her 3 sons in New Milford, CT with her husband of 27 years. In their spare time, they enjoy spending time with their adult children or at home in the company of their ducks, chickens, and Boston Terrier.
