About me
My name is Dock Fox, and I am an emergency department nurse and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) at Danbury Hospital. My healthcare career began in medical laboratory science, where I worked as a histotechnologist and laboratory leader. After nearly a decade in that role, I transitioned into direct patient care, first as an EMT in San Francisco and then as a registered nurse.
I earned my Associate of Science in Nursing from City College of San Francisco, my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in March 2026 from Purdue University Global. My clinical focus is on integrating emergency medicine experience with primary care to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and trauma-informed care. I am particularly passionate about community-based medicine and caring for underserved populations, with a focus on addressing gaps in health inequities.
In addition to my clinical work, I am actively engaged in teaching and professional development. I was selected for the Nuvance Health Patricia A. Tietjen, MD Teaching Academy in 2025 and regularly teach CPR. I am especially interested in supporting the development of future nurses and clinicians through education and mentorship.
I am also involved in healthcare advocacy, serving as a Government Affairs Representative for nursing organizations. My advocacy work focuses on advancing nurse-led care, supporting full practice authority, and promoting health equity at the state and national levels. I believe clinicians have a responsibility to engage in policy and that frontline experience should inform healthcare decision-making.
Outside of work, I live in Newtown, Connecticut, with my husband and our two cats. I am an avid cyclist and have completed the AIDS/LifeCycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles twice (545miles each), raising over $20,000 to support HIV/AIDS care, prevention, and research. This experience reflects my ongoing commitment to community engagement and advancing health equity beyond the clinical setting.
As a newly graduated Family Nurse Practitioner, I aim to bridge emergency and primary care, contribute to clinician education, and remain engaged in advocacy efforts that improve access, equity, and outcomes across healthcare systems.
