About me
My name is Connie Cozens. I have worked at Norwalk Hospital for 38 years. I was a medical surgical nurse for a large portion of that time. When asked why I stayed on a Med Surg unit for so long, my response is that this is where you see all the medical and surgical innovation at work. Patients would stay in the hospital for 2 weeks after a procedure, now leave in one day or the same afternoon. Innovation has led to safer patient care.
I was asked to move to Nursing Professional Development, which I think was the correct path for me. Educating nurses, techs and doctors about the importance of safe patient care, communication, and compassion is very important to me. I have been in Nursing Professional Development for over 10 years and have seen such a change in nursing programs that the role of a Nursing Professional Development specialist has become even more important.
I am active in Nursing Professional Governance in addition to the Norwalk Staffing Committee. I think it is important to continue to advocate for the bedside nurse in an effort to make their job safer.
In my free time, I am a mom of 5 great kids and I am striving to grow beautiful roses like my mom!
