About me
Candice Calhoun, DMSc, PA-C, is a senior physician assistant and lead advanced practice provider for Danbury and New Milford Hospitals within Northwell Health. She has more than 13 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, critical care, interventional radiology, and inpatient pediatrics.
Candice earned her Master of Health Science from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program and her Doctor of Medical Science degree from the University of Lynchburg. She is an inaugural member of the Patricia A. Tietjen, MD Teaching Academy, serves as chair of the associate medical staff board at Danbury Hospital, and is actively involved in advanced practice provider clinical education.
A recognized advocate for LGBTQIA+ health equity, Candice has provided education throughout the health system and beyond on LGBTQIA+ healthcare, with a focus on transgender and gender-diverse patient care. She has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on inclusive healthcare delivery and health equity. She also serves as a clinical preceptor for physician assistant students and is developing innovative approaches to expand clinical learning opportunities within emergency medicine.
Outside of her professional roles, Candice is the mother of four children and enjoys spending time with her family.
